Public forums will serve as an opportunity for residents in Senate District 1 to learn more about legislative accomplishments, share concerns, and talk about the issues

AUGUSTA – Now that the legislative session of the 125th Maine Legislature is complete, Senator Dawn Hill is offering a series of community forums to update residents about the work result from the Legislature.

“It is always important to keep an open connection between my work at the State House in Augusta and what it means for the people, businesses, and interests that I am elected to represent,” said Senator Hill.

Senator Hill added that because of her position as the only Senate Democratic member on the Appropriations Committee (AFA), which is responsible for the state’s finances, her time was primarily spent addressing the state’s budget. This session, AFA crafted a bipartisan biennial state budget; two supplemental state budgets; a Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) budget; and a contentious supplemental to the DHHS budget. Additionally, Senator Hill served on a special task force that found $25 million in government efficiency and savings.

“The prospect of better economic times is a priority for most Maine people and this legislative session I have been at the forefront of working toward this vision,” said Hill. “Work still remains and we can always do better – and I will always strive for better.”

Hill added that she would like to hear more from the communities she represents about what the state could do better to improve the quality of life for Maine people and businesses.

All community forums are open to the public and will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. They are scheduled as follows:
