SENATOR JACKSON APPOINTED TO NATIONAL COMMITTEE
AUGUSTA—Senate Majority Leader Troy Jackson (D-Allagash) has been appointed to the Natural Resources and Infrastucture Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) for the 2013-2014 term.
“I look forward to serving on this committee,” said Senator Jackson. “Our heritage in Aroostook County is deeply tied to our natural resources, due to our tradition in forestry and logging, our beautiful lakes, and our history of farming and working the land. I will work to take my local perspective to the NCSL.”
The committee has jurisdiction over many issues, including agriculture, transportation programs, state and federal energy policies, and the environment to name a few. They will meet on December 4 through December 6 at the NCSL’s legislative forum in Washington, D.C.
Senator Jackson represents District 35, which is made up of Northern Aroostook County. He is the previous Senate Chair of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry committee in the legislature and the current Majority Leader in the Maine Senate.
