SENATORS GRATWICK AND CAIN RECEIVE PERFECT SCORES ON LABOR RECORDS
State employees union praises lawmakers for commitment to working families
AUGUSTA – Democratic Senators Geoff Gratwick of Bangor and Emily Cain of Orono have each received a 100% rating from the Maine State Employees Union for their support of working families during the second session of the 126th Legislature.
“It’s my honor to stand up for Maine’s working families in the Senate,” said Senator Gratwick. “Maine depends on the health of our workforce, and hard-working men and women deserve our support.”
Senator Gratwick and Senator Cain are among 19 Democratic senators to receive a perfect score from the union, which represents more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.
“Employees of the state of Maine show up and work hard everyday,” said Senator Cain. “Making sure that these individuals receive the proper acknowledgement and compensation for their efforts is the least we can do. I am proud to stand with them.”
During the 2014 legislative session, Senator Gratwick and Senator Cain supported a one-time increase in the cost of living adjustment for state retirees and funding for merit and longevity pay for state workers. They also both supported the bipartisan, responsible budget crafted by the legislature, bills to increase access to affordable health care, and to support laid-off workers at the Maine Military Authority.
