South Portland legislators to host Town Hall about the Opportunity Agenda
Members of South Portland’s delegation to the Legislature will hold a Town Hall Forum to discuss the Democratic proposed biennial budget, called the Opportunity Agenda, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 20, in the South Portland Community Center.
Sen. Rebecca Millett, D-Cape Elizabeth, will convene the town hall-style public forum. She will be joined by Rep. Lois Galgay-Reckitt, D-South Portland, Rep. Scott Hamann, D-South Portland, Rep. Kevin Battle, I-South Portland, and Senate Democratic Leader Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, who will discuss the Opportunity Agenda and contrast this budget proposal with that of Governor LePage.
The Opportunity Agenda calls for the largest property tax cut in Maine history; invests in jobs and the economy; fully funds public schools; makes college degrees more affordable and attainable; supports families, seniors, children and veterans; and provides meaningful student debt relief. And it does it all without unnecessary cuts and without raising new taxes.
All are welcome to attend, ask questions and get answers. More information on the Opportunity Agenda may be found here.
