Statement on President Fitzsimmons Resignation

“President Fitzsimmons has directly and indirectly touched the lives of thousands of students and families across Maine. Through his vision, leadership, and perseverance he guided Maine’s technical schools through a major transformation–creating a diverse and vital community college system,” said Senate Democratic Leader Justin Alfond of Portland. “In recent years, President Fitzsimmons was instrumental in forging a partnership between Maine’s community college system and Maine’s business community–resulting in training students and workers for the needs and demands of our local industries. Maine and our community college systems was stronger and better off for  having President Fitzsimmons’ wisdom and experience there to guide us.”
