Sen. Deschambault to focus on affordable health care and Maine students in the new session
AUGUSTA — Sen. Susan Deschambault, D-Biddeford, returned to Augusta on Wednesday for the start of the second regular session of the 129th Legislature. After hearing from constituents and in consultation with colleagues, she is committed to working on expanding access to affordable health care and investing in Maine students.
“This session will be about continuing our work on making sure people have access to affordable health care and to take care of and invest in the young people of Maine, who are our future,” said Sen. Deschambault.
During the second session, lawmakers will consider governor’s bills, carry-over bills and other bills deemed emergency in nature as outlined by the Maine Constitution. All new bills submitted for consideration must be approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which comprises legislative leadership in both the House and Senate. The statutory date of adjournment for the shorter second session is April 15.
Sen. Deschambault is serving her second term in the Senate. She serves as the Senate chair of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and on the State and Local Government Committee.
