AUGUSTA — Sen. Susan Deschambault, D-Biddeford, has been reappointed to the Criminal Law Advisory Commission (CLAC) by Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash.

“I take my role on CLAC very seriously,” said Sen. Deschambault. “My career in the criminal justice system has given me a perspective and experience that helps me navigate the work of this commission. Since working on CLAC last session and this summer, I know we have a lot to do this year.

The CLAC Commission is responsible for reviewing the sections of the Revised Statutes outside of the Criminal Code that apply to criminal law and ensure that statute and criminal code are aligned, including evaluating the Maine Juvenile Code.

In addition to being reappointed chair of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, Sen. Deschambault also worked for the Department of Corrections as a social worker for more than 40 years. Sen. Deschambault was also a Biddeford Police Commissioner, and served as a board member of the Maine Criminal Justice Commission for 17 years.
