Sen. Deschambault earns high marks for pro-worker voting record
AUGUSTA — Sen. Susan Deschambault, D-Biddeford, earned high marks from the Maine State Employees Association (MSEA) for her votes to support state workers.
“Our state employees and workers, despite the challenges of the deadly pandemic, truly went above and beyond the call of duty this year,” said Sen. Deschambault. “I’ll always support our state workers because our community benefits so much from the services they provide. I’m honored to receive this recognition from MSEA, and I promise to keep advocating for our state employees.”
Sen. Deschambault, who served as a state employee for more than 40 years, has a long history of supporting Maine workers. This year, Sen. Deschambault cosponsored LD 711, a law to allow certain police officers to return to participation in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System, which Gov. Janet Mills signed into law. Sen. Deschambault, having been a state employee herself, will continue to fight for state employees and workers.
MSEA scored votes on six bills, including the Back to Basics Budget that ensured the continuity of state services and the bipartisan biennial state budget that expanded upon the Back to Basics Budget. Sen. Deschambault voted in favor of both budgets, which the MSEA union endorsed. MSEA represents 13,000 public workers. For more information about the votes scored by MSEA, visit www.mseaseiu.org.
