AUGUSTA — Earlier today, Sen. Nicole Grohoski, D-Ellsworth, was sworn into the Maine Senate. Sen. Grohoski was elected to her third term in the Senate in November.

Gov. Janet Mills administered the oath of office to Sen. Grohoski and 34 of her Senate colleagues, all of whom have been elected to serve two-year terms. She represents the good people of Senate District 7, which includes Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, Brooklin, Brooksville, Castine, Cranberry Isles, Deer Isle, Ellsworth, Frenchboro, Isle au Haut, Lamoine, Mount Desert, Orland, Penobscot, Sedgwick, Southwest Harbor, Stonington, Surry, Swan’s Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Verona Island.

“I am honored to continue serving the people of Senate District 7,” said Sen. Grohoski. “Throughout my time in the Legislature, including in the House of Representatives, I have worked tirelessly for Maine people and our shared environment. Looking ahead, I remain committed to improving access to rural health care, investing in infrastructure, funding public education, delivering property tax relief, and protecting our environment. I hope we can build on what we’ve accomplished so far to improve life for people here at home and across our great state. No matter who you are or where you live, we’re all in this together.”

Sen. Grohoski has served two terms in the Maine Senate. She is currently the Senate Chair of the Taxation Committee and a member of the Energy, Utilities, and Technology Committee. She is also a member of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Maine Climate Council. Prior to serving in the Senate, Sen. Grohoski was a two-term member of the Maine House of Representatives. Committee Assignments for the 132nd Legislature will be determined later this month.
