Democratic Sen. Margaret Craven says she had heard a lot of discussion about Mayhew’s plans for reforming the upper echelons of DHHS from the top down. Mayhew told the senator that she should have more appropriately used the phrase, “from the bottom up” because she wants to talk with many DHHS workers on the front lines.
But she also says she wants to bring in a new management team at the top of the organization. “In terms of the team, I am, and have been, in conversations with individuals to identify some very strong and talented management individuals to come in and assist,” Mayhew said. “That will be a very, very important part of what I do, is bringing on talented, capable, proven managers and leaders into the department.”
