Mainers to Speak in Favor of Affordable Care Act

Several Mainers are going to be in Washington when lawyers argue for and against the federal Affordable Care Act championed by President Barack Obama.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ One of them, state Senator Margaret Craven of Lewiston, will be participating in a news conference on the steps of the Supreme Court to discuss the the law’s benefits for women, which she says puts the country a path to “ending gender discrimination against women.”
The news conference is the second in a series held each of the three days of the oral arguments on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act.
Not everyone from Maine is there to support the law. Attorney General Bill Schneider opposes the law, saying parts of it are unconstitutional.
