AUGUSTA—Rebecca Millett of Cape Elizabeth was sworn in to the Maine Senate at the State House in Augusta today. Senator Millett was elected to her first term in the State Senate in November.

“Maine’s economy is still struggling. That much is clear. I am ready to work hard to put in place solutions that will get Maine back on track,” said Senator Millett. “I will put partisanship aside and work with everyone for the best interest of our state, and I hope the Governor and my Republican colleagues will join me.”

Governor Paul LePage administered the oath of office to Millett and 34 of her Senate colleagues, all of whom have been elected to serve two-year terms. Millett represents Senate District 7, which includes the communities of Cape Elizabeth, part of Scarborough, and South Portland.

Millett holds a BA in International Relations and a BS in Business Administration from American University. She earned her MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. Millett attended Portland public schools, and upon returning to Maine, served on the Cape Elizabeth School Board from 2004 to 2010, and co-founded a citizens’ advocacy group to support advancements in local education. She lives in Cape Elizabeth with her husband and children.
