Sen. Craven: Welfare policy "put forth by MHPC will further disenfranchise those living in poverty"
As the lead Democrat on the Health and Human Services committee, I am, of course, interested in learning more from our newly confirmed commissioner of DHHS. During the confirmation hearing, I expressed several concerns regarding Mayhew’s lack of social service experience. And, after receiving an invite to an event collaboratively hosted by the Maine Heritage Policy Center (MHPC) and Mary Mayhew in her capacity as DHHS commissioner, my concerns have deepened.
