Sen. Denise Tepler welcomes Maine Arts Academy student to the Maine Senate
AUGUSTA — Yesterday, Sen. Denise Tepler, D-Topsham, welcomed Chava Kirkpatrick of Topsham to the Senate Chamber to serve as an Honorary Student Page in the Maine Senate. Chava is a freshman at Maine Arts Academy in Augusta.
“It was a joy to welcome Chava to the State House and see her take part in the work of the Senate,” said Sen. Denise Tepler. “I’m so proud of the students in our district who take initiative to learn more about public service.”
On session days, the Senate Secretary’s Office manages the Honorary Student Page Program in the Maine State Senate. Open to students in third through twelfth grade, Honorary Student Pages perform various duties such as delivering messages; distributing documents within the Senate Chamber; interacting with State Senators; and — most importantly — taking part in a real world, legislative learning experience.
