Sen. Deschambault earns perfect attendance record in 2018 legislative session

Sen. Susan Deschambault, D-Biddeford, earned a perfect attendance and voting record during the recently concluded legislative session.

“I’m honored to serve as my constituents’ voice in Augusta, and showing up to vote is how their voice is heard,” said Sen. Deschambault. “Doing the people’s work is our job as elected officials, which is why I hope the Legislature returns to the State House soon for a special session to finish our remaining work.”

During the 2nd Regular Session of the 128th Maine Legislature, Sen. Deschambault cast 100 percent of the votes recorded, excluding absences excused by the President of the Senate for illness or other extenuating circumstances. This year, lawmakers cast votes to protect the minimum wage, improve transparency in pricing of prescription medicine and increase access to the life-saving, anti-overdose drug naloxone.

Sen. Deschambault also had a 100 percent attendance record last year. The 128th Legislature adjourned May 2, leaving several pieces of legislation unresolved. The Legislature will only reconvene should there be a special session.
