Sen. Hickman welcomes Moira O’Connor to sing the National Anthem
AUGUSTA — On Tuesday, May 20, Senator Craig Hickman, D-Winthrop, welcomed Moira O’Connor of Hallowell in the Maine Senate, where she sang the National Anthem to begin the Senate session. Moira is a Musical Theatre student at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
“Moira sang our National Anthem beautifully,” said Sen. Hickman. “Her powerful voice resounded through the chamber to begin a Senate session in which we also honored Maine’s veterans. I congratulate her on her performance and wish her all the best in her musical studies.”
The National Anthem is performed instrumentally or sung by members of the public prior to the start of session days alongside the opening invocation to welcome members before they begin business.
