Sen. Ingwersen celebrated for perfect voting record on reproductive rights
AUGUSTA — Sen. Henry Ingwersen, D-Arundel, earned a perfect score from Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund for votes to protect reproductive rights and improve access to fundamental health care. Sen. Ingwersen is one of 20 senators to earn a perfect score for their 2025 voting record.
“As the Senate chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, I was very proud to co-sponsor and work on a comprehensive bill — now law — that funds a range of behavioral, primary and reproductive health care services,” said Sen. Ingwersen. “Maine’s family planning network provides birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment and vaccinations. These critical services keep Mainers healthy, protected and safe. As Maine continues to deal with the harmful impact of the Big Beautiful Bill, especially the parts that defund or eliminate health care services, my committee will do all we can. ”
Planned Parenthood scored the votes of Maine legislators on 12 bills, including seven bills that would restrict access to abortion and reproductive care. This year, in the face of massive federal cuts, the Legislature invested $6 million in Maine’s family planning services network, which provides essential care for patients, including birth control, cancer screenings and testing and treatment of STIs, regardless of ability to pay. Sen. Ingwersen also supported a new law that will protect prescribers of safe, effective medication abortion by allowing a provider to omit their name from prescription labels.
For as long as Sen. Ingwersen has served in the Maine Senate, he has earned a perfect voting score from Planned Parenthood, reflecting a strong commitment to defending the rights of Maine people in the years since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the nationwide right to abortion.
