Sen. Lawrence earns high marks for pro-worker voting record
AUGUSTA — Sen. Mark Lawrence, D-Eliot, earned a perfect score from the Maine State Employees Association (MSEA) for his votes to support state workers.
“I am honored to receive a perfect score from MSEA,” said Sen. Lawrence. “This last year and a half, Maine state workers have gone above and beyond to make sure that all Mainers have access to the resources they need. Maine state employees showed up for us, so it was our turn to show up for them.”
Sen. Lawrence has a long history of supporting Maine workers. In the 129th Legislative session, he served on the Labor and Housing Committee, where he strongly advocated for state workers. This session, Sen. Lawrence voted in favor of bills to fund collective bargaining agreements for executive branch employees to ensure these state employees are paid what they deserve for their hard work on behalf of the state. He also voted for the Back to Basics Budget to prevent a state shutdown and the bipartisan biennial state budget, which included measures to support state employees.
MSEA scored votes on six bills, including the Back to Basics Budget and the bipartisan biennial state budget. MSEA represents 13,000 public workers. For more information about the votes scored by MSEA, visit www.mseaseiu.org.
