Sen. Nangle welcomes Windham High School boys’ basketball state champions to the State House
AUGUSTA — On March 18, Sen. Tim Nangle, D-Windham, welcomed the Windham High School boys’ basketball team to the State House to celebrate their recently won Class AA state title. This is their second year in a row securing the title.
“This team has cemented its place in Windham history with another incredible championship run,” said Sen. Nangle. “Watching them defend their title with such skill, heart and determination was inspiring. It was an honor to welcome them to the State House today to celebrate their hard-earned success, and I have no doubt they’ll continue to make our community proud — on and off the court.”
In addition to winning back-to-back Class AA state titles, several members of the team received individual honors for the 2024-2025 season. Creighty Dickson earned multiple accolades, including First Team All AA North, McDonald’s All-Star, Mr. Maine Basketball Semifinalist and a spot on the Hoops 8 All Tourney Team for AA North. He also joined the prestigious 500 Career Rebound Club. Tyrie James was named First Team All AA North and was selected for the Hoops 8 All Tourney Team. AJ Moody earned Second Team All AA North honors.
Rookie standout Colin Janvrin had a remarkable season, being named AA North Rookie of the Year, SMAA Rookie of the Year, and earning spots on the AA North All-Rookie Team, AA North All-Defensive Team, and Hoops 8 All Tourney Team. Braycen Freese was recognized for his academic excellence as a McDonald’s All-Academic Team member.
Coach Chad Pulkkinen was once again honored as the MABC AA North Coach of the Year, leading Windham to another historic season. The team claimed the 2025 AA State Championship and the AA North Regional Championship, finishing as the first ranked team in the state across all five classes. They also set regional tournament records, including most total points (196), most free throws in the tournament (39) and most free throws in a single game (17).
Additional team honors included Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Coaches Award, and the Keith Taylor Rebounding Champion award, highlighting the collective effort and dominance of this championship squad.
During their visit to the State House, Sen. Nangle presented the team with a legislative sentiment, which is an official expression of the Maine State Legislature recognizing notable achievements by community members.
