Sen. Tepler welcomes Rabbi Lisa Vinikoor from Beth Israel Congregation of Bath to the Maine Senate
AUGUSTA — Today, Sen. Denise Tepler, D-Topsham, welcomed Rabbi Lisa Vinikoor from Beth Israel Congregation in Bath to the Senate chamber to give the Opening Invocation.
“It was pleasure to welcome my Rabbi to deliver the opening prayer,” said Sen. Denise Tepler. “It was especially fitting that Rabbi Vinikoor could join us today for the recognition of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and that her message to the Senate reminded all of us of the importance of everyday courage.”
On session days, faith leaders deliver a brief inspirational message to guide lawmakers through their deliberations for the day. Out of respect for the diversity in the Senate Chamber, the Senate Secretary’s Office asks that these invocations are non-secular and non-political.
