Senator Miramant and Representative Kruger to Host Community Forum on Governor's Proposed Budget

AUGUSTA – The public is invited to attend a community forum to learn more about the governor’s proposed state budget and its impact on Maine residents, municipalities, businesses, and organizations.

Senator David Miramant of Camden and Representative Chuck Kruger of Thomaston are hosting the event in an effort to hear from constituents within the region.

“In talks around the district, it has been helpful to hear what the people have to say about the proposed budget,” said Senator Miramant. “The forums are a great way to receive feedback and provide an opportunity to explain in greater detail how the proposed budget will affect people if the plan moves forward as the Governor prefers.”

Governor Paul LePage submitted his state budget proposal at the beginning of the year and the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee has been reviewing the $6.5 billion document. After a thorough process of months of public hearings, public testimony, and work sessions, the budget-writing committee will provide its recommendation to the full Legislature for consideration.

“Until it reaches the Legislature, the Governor’s budget is a work-in-progress, said Representative Chuck Kruger. “As a Representative, I find it always helpful to get input from district residents on issues critical to them.”

The forum will be held at the St. George Town Office, 3 School Street, on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
