Sens. Chipman, Duson honor Portland Symphony Orchestra’s 100th anniversary
AUGUSTA – On Tuesday, Sen. Ben Chipman, D-Portland, and Sen. Jill Duson, D-Portland, presented a legislative sentiment to honor the Portland Symphony Orchestra, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
“The PSO strengthens our local economy, drawing large audiences to concerts, many of whom support local businesses during their visits,” said Sen. Duson. “The Orchestra inspires us to strive and dream. It is a catalyst for inspiring change and creative ideas and energy within our community. The Portland Symphony Orchestra is a microcosm of all the things that make our society great. The Orchestra is an all-inclusive organization that enriches our lives in countless ways. The PSO serves a vital role in fostering community, contributing to the economy and promoting artistic excellence.”
The Portland Symphony Orchestra graced the halls of the State House with melodious tunes on Tuesday morning. The organization will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a concert with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma in October.
