Sen. Lawrence receives 2021 CCSA Community Solar Champion Award
AUGUSTA – On Tuesday, Jan. 5, Sen. Mark Lawrence, D-Eliot, was presented with the 2021 CCSA Community Solar Champion Award in recognition of the important work he has done to advance community solar in Maine. Kaitlin Kelly O’Neill from the Coalition for Community Solar Access presented the award to Sen. Lawrence when the Legislature convened at the State House in Augusta.
“Anyone who knows me knows that I have a deep interest in energy in all its forms,” said Sen. Lawrence. “I’m grateful to receive this award for promoting community solar in Maine. Energy is everything, and I’m excited for solar to continue to develop and grow.”
As chair of the Legislature’s Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, Sen. Lawrence has long advocated for advancing community solar in Maine. Sen. Lawrence was one of 26 champions selected for CCSA’s award, with the champions hailing from nine states and Washington, D.C. Award recipients ranged from legislators to sustainability advocates and labor leaders to low-income ratepayer protection agencies.
