AUGUSTA — Sen. Tim Nangle, D-Windham, is pleased to announce that service provider organizations in Senate District 26 are the recipients of a Community Action Grant award from the Community Resilience Partnership. The partnership is administered by the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future to help Maine communities reduce emissions and prepare for the effects of extreme weather events brought on by climate change.

The grant recipients and amounts are:

  • Greater Portland Council of Governments – $50,000 – Conducting Community Vulnerability Assessments in Bridgton, Gray, Standish, Westbrook and Windham
  • North Star Planning – $32,000 – Funding to help enroll the municipalities of Raymond, Pownal and Turner in the Community Resilience Partnership

“The Community Resilience Partnership has been integral in helping individual communities prepare for stormy days and high waters,” said Sen. Nangle. “By working with municipalities and local organizations to identify risk, chart solutions and take action, we’re strengthening our communities for years to come. I’m grateful that the Partnership is using the funds I voted for in the Legislature to invest in Westbrook, Windham and Raymond.”

Funding for the grants came from several sources, including measures passed by the Maine Legislature with Sen. Nangle’s support:

  • The Supplemental Budget that was passed by the Legislature in 2024 to increase community resilience and preparedness in the wake of the December 2023 and January 2024 storms;
  • Funds from the biennial budget authorized by the Legislature in 2023; and
  • A federal grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The grants in District 26 are part of a historic $8 million in funding for Community Resilience Partnership grants announced by Governor Janet Mills on May 1, 2025. This round of funding will support projects in 166 communities across Maine. For a full list of grant awardees, click here.
